PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans Continues to Expand with New Location in Houston

New Orleans Native Brings PJ’s First Traditional Location to Texas February 6th

February 3, 2015 (Houston, Texas) — PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans (PJ’s) is staying true to its New Orleans roots while continuing southern expansion with its newest location in Houston, Texas, opening Friday, February 6th, 2015. PJ’s newest coffeehouse will be the home to Texas’ first traditional PJ’s location, run by owner and New Orleans-native Jessica Taylor, whose love for PJ’s began over 20 years ago.

“When I left New Orleans to attend college at Texas A&M, I began ordering PJ’s online to bring that taste of home to Texas,” says Taylor. “I realized that no other coffeehouse could perfect the cold-drip process like PJ’s. PJ’s passion for high-quality coffee in a friendly environment is what’s kept me a fan for so many years. That is what this state was missing, and I wanted to help bring that here.”

After college, Taylor was relocated back to New Orleans for work. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, her husband’s career led her family back to Texas, settling down in the Houston area. Through family and friends, Taylor was able to connect with the PJ’s team and discuss her dreams of Houston expansion. Now a reality, Taylor’s PJ’s Coffeehouse is located where many Louisiana transplants—and fans of PJ’s Coffee—currently reside and is ready to open in time to celebrate New Orleans Mardi Gras season!

“We’re excited to share our love for premium, delicious coffee with our neighbors in Texas,” says Ryan Stansbury, PJ’s Franchise Development Director, “We’re extremely proud of where we’ve come from and where we’re going, and look forward to expanding throughout Texas and beyond.”

PJ’s currently operates over 80 locations in six states and has shown tremendous growth moving into its 37th year in business. The company recently launched PJ’s single serve cups and 12 oz. ground coffee bags, expanding PJ’s coffee sales into select grocery stores and Walgreens locations. PJ’s has also become the brand standard for Royal Sonesta hotels nationwide, which began the company’s expansion into the Texas area (PJ’s currently operates a non-traditional location in Houston’s Royal Sonesta Hotel). PJ’s newest launch—its bottled Iced Coffee Concentrate—allows customers to purchase PJ’s signature cold drip coffee at select PJ’s locations and enjoy from their own homes.

About PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans:
PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans was founded in 1978 by Phyllis Jordan, a pioneer in the coffee industry that demonstrated that better beans, superior roasting techniques, and pure passion for the art of coffee-making mattered.   PJ’s Coffee serves a wide variety of hot, iced and frozen coffee beverages using only the top 1% of Arabica beans, as well as organic tea and fresh breakfast pastries. PJ’s famous iced coffees are brewed daily using a special cold-drip process that protects the flavor and strength of the beans, while producing a coffee that is 2/3 less acidic – a process pioneered by our founder.  Bags of whole bean coffee, PJ’s single serve cups and PJ’s new Iced Coffee Concentrate are available for sale in PJ’s store locations and select products are available online.
